I am looking to buy new tires now and new wheels next spring. By looking at the tire specs on tirerack.com, it looks like the largest tire I can put on the stock wheels are 255/75R16. I am pretty sure I saw someone on here with 265/75R16 BFG KO's.

Can I get away with the 265's? I want to go with Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo's which seem to have the best rating as an all purpose, including snow driving tire. Have people found these to be as good as they are rated?

265's on my stock wheels. No problems at all. I am going to go to the Revo's when I replace my current tires.

265 REVO's on my truck right now. Had 285 BFG's on my '02 HD also.

Yes, technically the 285's aren't spec'd for those rims, but they do fit and you have to watch the air pressures so you don't wear out the centers of the tire. The 265's fit much nicer and don't have to worry about that issue as much.

It is good to know you all have had good luck with the 'mismatched' tire/rim combo. Have you hauled that way? I plan in the spring to put the stock tires on for long hauls like pulling the gooseneck trailer from Boise to Tulsa.

Any reason to be concerned about doing shorter local hauls with the stock wheel and Revo combo?

I'm running 285's on my truck.

Thus far, the heaviest weight I've had in the back is between 2500-3000. That's been 2 or 3 times. I've hauled under a ton a number of times.

The heaviest trailer I've towed weighed about 8000, but that I've only done once.

I (obviously) air up the tires before packing heavy, but so far no problems whatsoever.

I just ran my Dunlop 255x85s bald and replaced them with 265x75s. The 265s are a tad smaller diameter than the 255 but not much. I like the way the 265 handle, better than the 255s.

I upgraded tires on Saturday to the Bridgestone AT Revo's 265/75/16. I do not have a chip or box. Is it OK not to get a chip? Is the Allison OK without inputting larger tire size??? Thanks.

Just got 4 265/75R16 Pro Comp all terrains delivered to my door. (not on truck yet) They look like great tires and best thing is they are the 10ply E-rated version. There are not many choices in that size at E rating.
