pre lift pump filter change - problem

My recollection is that fuel gravity filled the filter on my last filter change. Tank was on empty; no flow. Added 20 gallons of diesel, 5 gallons at a time, still no flow. Lift pump can't pump it through. Can't get the fuel to fill up the filter. Whats wrong?

Pull the filter of and fill it with fuel or ATF and then it sould work.

IMO though your lift pump is getting weak.

I've used about 5-10 psi (rag wrapped around an air valve) wedged into the tank filler neck to prime a dry system. A shop vac set to blow instead of vac would work as well no matter the fuel level in the tank.
