Rear dif lube one more time

Want to change my rear lube to 75w140 since I tow a lot. Found some Sta-Lube synthetic gear oil at O'Reilly's. Not cheap at 23.99 for a two qt bottle but not as bad as the GM stuff.
Label says it meets or exceeds MIL SPEC MIL-PRF-2105E, API GL-5, and proposed MT-1 and PG-2.
Any comments would be appreciated.

What's AMSOIL? Is that a specification I should be looking for on the label?

After 500-700 miles I changed-out the diff fluid and cover.

I personally went with the Mag-Hytec rear end cover. Added lube capacity and cooling fins. It's a top-notch product.

I then installed 607 Almasol from Lube Engineers Inc.. It is highly touted from the Mag-Hytec guys, but after research I decided to go with it. My rig is used primarily for towing.

If you plan on doing a lot of towing I would recommend the Mag-Hytec rear end replacement cover and then add your favorite lube. It's a very good long-term investment for your truck.

Don't be confused! The stuff you quoted is just fine. Mobil 1 Synthetic GL-5 lube is just fine. Redline is just fine. The Amsoil is just fine.

Any GL-5 rated SYNTHETIC axle lube at 75w90 or 75w140 (for severe duty) will work.

The Amsoil cult guys will tell you Amsoil is the best no matter what. Amsoil has some good products... some are better than most, some are not as good as most. Amsoil has developed this cult style organization similar to Amway so you have to be very cautious when dealing with them because they will always tell you Amsoil is the best (even when it's not).
