ZAP.....you have got to be kidding? Man, that truck weighs about 6,400 lbs. Let's see...that's about 1,600 lbs per wheel.. UNLOADED. At least get a set of "D" rated tires. Remember that snow and Ice "ADD" weight to your truck and 6ply tires are much easyer to "POP" than 8 or 10 ply. Go get some BFG's and just air them down to 30 psi. BFG's have the heavy sidewall so it should not be a problem, plus you can air them up after the snow.
32,000k trucks don't work well on a 14,000k truck budget.

Load range D MINIMUM, E preferrable. You need the ply for stability and handling.

I run Bridgestone Blizzak W965's in a 235/85/16E for nasty winter driving...

I agree with those guys; that's a bad, bad idea.

I have load range D tires on mine for summer use and I would not recommend them to anybody. It does improve the ride but the side walls are bellied out so far that everyone asks me if I'm getting a flat and I have them at maximum inflation ! They also seem to wear abnormally. :( Absolutely forget about using C rated tires.

Hi everyone-

OK, everyone have a cow on me, but I've been running the Bridgestone Winter Dueler DM-Z2. Max load rating is 2470 lbs. each (I think that's range C, maybe not). And I don't tow squat in the winter.

Since I've never blown a tire, I opted for best ground traction on ice and mix. They do feel gooshy, but I'm an easy cornering kind of guy.

They don't balloon, and they wear evenly for me. Everyone who sees 'em says they look good too.

I would run the Blizzak 965s like JK but just not enough open tread to run in slush (IMHO) like we get here a lot. I do know that I'm still goin' when no one else is. And they'll spank the BFGs silly in the messy crap. The all-out siping is the trick.

Have fun, Mat

Zap,
Get yourself a set of storm kings. I just bought a set for $100.00 each. They are made by BF Goodrich and they are a great tire when it comes to traction so far. One of the guys recommened them to me and I am glad I bought them. I went for the 285/75/16 and there is no problem with the stock clearence and they definitley make the truck look good. No need to crank the bars or anything. smile.gif
