View Full Version : Another Bilstein Testimony

New Bilsteins went on this morning. Since I do mostly freeway driving, OEMs actually lasted better than I expected. I thought they were still performing fairly well.
Then I put on the Bilsteins. Wow, what a difference. I was afraid they might be a little stiff, but was really pleasantly suprised. Truck is very "tight" to the road and still a great ride.
Thanks to Kennedy Diesel for great service on the order.
Tex,
I'll second that on both counts. Put mine on last night and I can't believe the difference. I drive mostly highway miles as well and thought my stockers were not in bad shape until I switched them. Once I had them out, I could slide them in and out with ease. Truck handles much better now! JK got them out to me in no time flat. Always great service.

I just ordered my Bilstein from JK These OEM shocks are s@#! can't wait to get them
Got mine from Kennedy, installed about a week ago in my driveway (NO lifting of truck needed at all, just tools and turn front wheels one way or the other for access, easy job).
They work good. No more big loose whoop-tee-doos on rolling bump pavement, just a LITTLE quickly damped "front end of Diesel pickup is really heavy"-type float ONLY. Minimal skitter-dance from rear end now. Nice.
BTW, new Bridgestone Dueler Revo tires work good, do seem to have better traction in wet than stock Firestone Steeltex's. Bet they are way better in snow too, more aggressive tread but not loud. Seem to handle similarly, the Steeltex's were also predictable and reliable handling tires to me.

JK sent mine a few weeks ago. As usual, he got them to me fast! All I can say is WOW! I noticed a positive difference immediately. Given the huge difference in handling and ride, it just blows the mind as to why the General doesn't switch over to Bilsteins? I know the cost might be a little more, but the performance gains & customer satisfaction should more than justify the change. smile.gif
Thanks guys!
For some reason, it seems the guys at PUT.com seem to think the Bilsteins are too harsh. Guess that's what you get when you run a gas powered 1/2 ton "puppy" truck... :D

I totally agree with all of you. Installed them last friday after I got back from VA. Boy I wish I had them for my trip down I-81, my kidneys were taking a beating. (arrived the day after I left)
These are by far the best riding shocks for this truck, I noticed an immediate difference when I pulled down the long driveway... didn't feel the bumps like before and no back end kicking out. Turning it, it feels so much better, I 'feel' that I have more control. Feels like I'm driving a BMW. A BIG BLACK DIESEL 'BMW' haha!
Thanks again JK for the great service and the quick delivery, will be intouch for some more goodies soon... :D :D I never had anyone return an email as quick as you...not even 5 minutes after I hit the send button I had a reply, talk about customer service and satisfaction #1 JK.
- - BTW there was a few extra inches in there for maybe a 6 pack of brats, that someone had mentioned in another bilstein thread ;)

Just installed Blistein shocks on my 03 at 16,000 miles. Great service from JK but to be very honest I can't tell any difference in the ride.
If you have not towed anything you might not feel any change. However, as soon as you do pull or haul something heavy... you'll know. I really wasn't sure about the shocks either until I pulled a heavy load. I did notice that I could slip around curves without the sag or list so prevalent in the stock GM shocks.

I have a 96 k2500 long bed Ex Cab still stock. Basically I have to set the truck up for the corner, pre-load the shocks before entering a turn.
Seems I should be checking out these things.
edit: BTW- how do I get ahold of Kennedy, or other distributors? Do they advertize around here? ( I'm a newbie) Thanks
