What kinda temps are people seeing on a hot day of driving with truck empty? I been reachin the 170 mark pretty easy and 190 with a more aggresive right foot.

160-180 under most circumstance. 200, or even a bit more, when doing some heavy-duty towing.

My temps are about the same as listed. Keep an eye on the color of the fluid regardless. Mine was black as coal at 25k miles. I hadn't even done any heavy towing at that point. I'm not sure I trust the gauge. Funny thing is, I towed a truck through the mountains and was really pushing on the uphills. I got the temp to nearly 250 and it didn't turn the fluid black. Not sure what the cause was the first time around. I think it is a good idea to check the fluid condition and change it if it gets dark.

250?! Man, I'd be flushing that stuff out real soon. It's probably nothing more then water at this point.

Actually, I am kind of hoping it frys itself soon, before the warranty runs out. GM is claiming that it is "normal" for the tranny fluid to turn black and that it didn't hurt anything. That flys in the face of 50 years of automatic transmission contstruction, but I am sure GM isn't just trying to get out of doing the right thing

It never went over 200 in the first 25k miles and the fluid was BLACK, now even getting it up to 250 the fluid color and operation of the trans seem unaffected.

Hot & humid empty 150 - 170 ish!
Hot & low humidity < 150

Mid June to 4th of July weekend was in Wyoming pulling 5ver and utility trailer with ATVs @ 65 -70 mph and tranny stayed at 175 - 180!

Stays pretty consistent

With a lot of stop and go driving in the heat of the day mine goes up to 190. Towing down the highway shows 170-180.

With factory fluid running empty 180. Pulling my 8000lb work trailer, 220. Changed to Amsoil 150 empty 170-180 with the trailer. The transmission from the factory was 21/2 quarts low! That made me switch everything over to amsoil and I'm glad I did. My rear diff. when drained was watery black and white like a motor with a blown water jacket, and 2 quarts low, bad news.
