Just curious if the problem is fixed on all 2004 models. Most of the posts I am reading about seem to be pertaining to 2003 models

duckhunter,

My '04 had to be worked on. They replaced the orifice and it cools just fine. It wasn't acceptable in Texas heat prior to that repair. My service manager knew just what to do when I took it in.

Had mine yesterday a/c was over charged. It seems to cool better now. I will have to wait till the weather heats back up again to know if it really cools better.

I guess this problem applies only to diesels? I have a (older) gass burner and it is the coldest A/C I have ever felt....

my '04 LB7 has great A/C. If anything, I have trouble getting the automatic controls to not make it too cool.

'04 truck is only about 1.5 months old, but I don't have any complaints about the A/C.

son of a gun, Which dealer did you get the orifice from?

I travel 24 mi. to work. On a sunny 85 F. day, it takes me 20 miles @ 60 mph before I start to feel cool enough to switch from max. air. It would have helped to have tinted windows here in N. W. Tennessee.

Well, trip to dealer we recieved a new accuulator low pressure cycling switch and a recal of the HVAC parameters. The AC is better and does get colder but I have not had enough hot weather, say over 85 and humid to test ac system fully. In other words this summer has been a little cool and I have driven it only on weekends when it either rains or is cooler since repair! I was in the shop and although HVAC parameters were said to be reset I'm not convinced they were. So I may have more to gain later if actually parameters were not reset. But for now I'm content. The ac service bulletin of years past has been updated to include 2004. bob.........

Hey guys unless I missed it in someones post there is a TSB that just came out from GM. Most dealers don't know about it. My brother in law has a 04 I have an 03 and his AC sucked. He went round and round with the dealer on this until I found the TSB posted on another diesel web site. www.the***********.com. (http://www.the***********.com.) Long story short they replace the accumulator, the high side hose, an orifice, and install a HEAT SHIELD. My 03 has the same problem but not as bad. He finally got his fixed after he slapped the doc down on the service managers desk. Blows colder then do do.Service manager wasn't too happy when my b-law told anytime you need me to do your job just give me a holler. Not a good scene but his frustrations were warranted. It works now better then ever. I will try to relocate that TSB and post it here for you guys. ACK..i found them...here you go...TSB # 02-01-38-007b.
