allison fluid capicity drain

how many quarts of fluid does the allison hold? is there a simple way to drain the fluid? any replies would be greatly appreciated. dave p

The Allison will take 22 quarts of Dextron III rated ATF when completely dry. A service usually will require less depending on how much drains out.

Don't forget to remove the magnet on the small spin-on filter, and transfer it to the new filter. Also, there is a flat-panel filter inside the pan, like what most other GM automatics use.
