firewall barrier popped/blew

Strange thing, I pulled into my driveway parked the truck and a few seconds later I heard a pop. Sounded like a dull balloon popping sound, didn't really pay any attention. Then about 2 days later, while checking oil, I noticed the insulation barrier/sound deadener looks like in blew up. Popped like a paper bag :confused:

Has this happened to anyone before? I mean WTF looks like crap. Why?

I didn't hear a pop, but I too noticed a large hole in the insulation while checking the oil. I think that mine was due to squirrel/rodent though. It was clear that it was chewed up near the edges.

Is it possible that your "bang" was some type of varmit going for a bounce under the hood?

the noise may have been your muffler cooling down.

An acquaintance experienced the rodent fest. Et the barrier plus the NSBU harness ~ it was what got his attn :eek:
