Since 265's seem to be the widest tire that doesn't cause crowning concerns for the stock 16x6.5 wheels, I was searching to see if anyone made the 265's with a taller than 75 aspect ratio. I found this:

Anybody ever heard of them?

I also found this along with a couple of other sites devoted to the Land Rover Defender 90 talking about 265/85 BFG M/T's.

Anybody ever heard of that size BFG M/T? Since only the Land Rover guys seem to talk about them, think they might only be available in Europe?

I called BFG's consumer service line and they didn't show anything available in that size. Maybe they were discountinued or they're available in Europe and not in the US database the operator was using.

Anybody heard anything about Denman tires?

the denman tires in the 265/85/16 are ok tires from what i have heard. the coyote's are only C rated though :( but the buckshot mudders are D rated iirc. but the height of the 265/85/16's are the same as most standard 255/85/16's and i have yet to see a tire manufacture that OK's the use of a 265 on a 6.5" rim...

If a 265/85/16 is the same hieght as a 255/85/16, Then someone doesn`t know their math, or they are cheating the numbers. Because there is about 7/10 of an inch differents.

265/85/16`s or 275/85/16`s would be a great size for the HD

You're right, Nick. I looked at the dimensions in the Denman site and the Dunlop dimensions for 255/85 Radial Rover RV. I see the 265/85 from Denman is actually 0.3" shorter and has the exact same cross-section.

I'm with you, Mike. The 255/85's I've seen look too tall and narrow. 285/75's look like the sidewalls are pinched in too much. There should be a compromise available without dropping down to a 265/75 and losing 1"+ of height. Wish Goodyear would offer such an animal in the MT/R's. I really like the looks of them.
