I have been thinking the same thing if I had to have a 2003. I like the Caddy front end better than the Alverado front but I am sure we will all get use to it's looks eventually. However I am not sure I could bring myself to pay the extra cash to convert a $40,000 new truck to the Caddy. I would do it if I happened to wreck it though.
I'm glad I have a 2002!

Funny this topic came up.. I was in Detroit for the Cruise In and stopped a guy in a 02 dually. He used a Denali front end and interior. Looked wicked and done very well.

Isn't the hood and the front fenders the same on the 03' anyway. You would just need the bumper, grill, and headlights.

Has everybody forgotten GMC also makes a pretty good truck ? I think it is also manufactured by General Motors ! Stop bitchin' bout the "ugly" Chevy front end and consider the red headed step child of General Motors. The 03 GMC has the best looking front end in GM history ! Sorry guys, woke up on the wrong side of the bed.....I feel better now : )

Toddster,

I agree. My local GMC dealer had 2002's and 2003 GMC HD's sitting next to each other. The 2002 looks good (mine ;) ) but the 2003's look much better. GM did a nice job with the GMC restyle.

I think the new/fresh design looks great; especially the HD's. It differentiates the new from the old. Better than buying the same old thing styling of the older models.

That is not to say that the older models look bad. They also look great but it was time to move on.

The new GMC's appear a little more "retro" but are basically the same old thing design as well.

I looked at the GMC vs. Silverado 2500HD for some time. Initially, I liked the GMC and was not keen on the Silverado but at some point this actually reversed and I found myself liking the Silverado more. There's too much retro out there and with even a hint of retro in the GMC, that's too much for me.

01F350SRW,

I guess you can sell the 03 sheet metal for scrap?

I read on another forum where a guy took his 03 through a carwash. The suction vacuum drier at the end of the carwash oil-canned the hood a couple of times. When he got out it was stuck in the depressed condition.

No toolboxes on the bed, no automatic carwash. Wow, and they have the nerve to call it a truck.

Sorry guys, sometimes reality sets in. Most of the truck is great. Some of these things require open minds and honesty. This place isn't a infomercial or a pep rally. The real facts are here, good and bad. Thankfully most are good.

On Edit:
The sheetmetal issues are similar on all the brands nowadays. It's just that the trucks tend to have larger panels.
