Make sure your shock nuts are tight!

Hi all.

I had the tires rotated 2 weeks ago. About the same time, noticed increased "steering rattle" or very slight bounce in the front end. I thought it might be from the rotated tires, so had them rebalanced.

Noticed a little less weight was used, but the bounce was still there. Then after looking around, realized that the front DS shock was barely attached. The bottom nut had come off the bolt and the bolt was backed out, 1 thread from falling out. I'm sure it's my own fault, so I'm replacing with locknuts.

Searched a bunch of dealers and hardware stores, 14mmx2.0 nuts are hard to find. Finally found lock nuts for .25 ea. so I bought 6 to do the rear shocks as well.

She'll be back to a silky smooth ride tonite...

MY TRUCK IS GOING IN ON WED. TO HAVE THE FRONT CHECKED FOR A RATTLE JUST LIKE YOU HAVE DESCRIBED.I AM ALSO INSISTING ON LEVELING THE TRUCK SIDE TO SIDE AS WELL.

I think this must be a GM phenomenon, as my '96 did the same thing shortly after I changed the shocks.

Now I REALLY lean on then with the impact when installing!
