View Full Version : Oil Bypass Return Ideas?

I have recently installed my own set-up for a Bypass Oil Filter.

The problem I'm having is with the location of the return line. I welded a nipple into the Oil Fill Tube. This way I could watch it 'Work'.

Their is a good amount of oil coming out of the return line, that it shoots across the tube, and sprays out when I pull the cap off. With the cap on, I get an oil leak out of it. I thought about angling the nipple down instead of straight across. But I'm still afraid of an oil leak at the filler tube o-ring.

Any other suggestions beside hollowing out a bolt?

I'm thinking of drilling and tapping the timing cover somewhere.

I would think that if you have that kind of volume that you might be allowing too much oil through your bypass filter setup...anyone else with ideas??

That was another thought. Add additional restriction at the filter base.

I think the current hole size ~.090.

Maybe cut it in half...

Bill,

My restrictor is .0625 aka 1/16". I have almost 190K miles on my truck and I still have about 48 psi oil pressure hot.

Thanks Carey.

.0625 Slowed it down Big-Time.
