tranny fluid

I just bought an '04 Silverado Duramax with the Allison tranny with 31,000 miles. I checked all the fluids and the tranny fluid was a purple/blue color(not brown), and was quite clear with no burnt smell whatsoever. This made me wonder if someone had changed the fluid and replaced it with another type with a different color. Anyone know of an aftermarket fluid with this color, or is this the color the stock dexron III turns after some use?

Dextron stays pinkish red. You may have some good stuff in the Allison, and then again you may not. I'd change it out just to be sure. GM and a number of aftermarket Allison people (i.e. ATS) recommend Dextron III.
