When towing a fiver what air pressure would be suggested. Total pin weight is around 2400 and loaded fiver is about 11400. Factory came with only 50 pounds and I would think about 60 would be much better..................Thanks in advance

I have been towing a 38 ft 5th wheel with 3200lb pin weight and running 65lbs in the rear. The tire wear looks fine and the ride is great with Rancho 9000 shocks set for level 4. FYI.

I have the same question. My king pin weight is 2700. I believe the door says 65 rears and 70 front??? But the tires say 80 for the max pressure at max load? I am very confused.

I once heard or read it is good to keep the inners or outers less pressure?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

A tire dealer can supply the load ratings at less than the maximum pressure for the tire. The 80 psi limits are for load range "E", the 65 psi limit for load range "D" (as found on some 3500's). I've got a 3500 with "E" range tires and a gooseneck that probably puts 3500 pounds in the trailer bed. I'm experimenting with 70 psi in the front and 75 psi in the back. I would think a 2500HD with a big load and the "E" range tires would want at least 70 psi in the rear tires for safety reasons.
