Allision Driveshaft rubbing? Need advise on used truck?

A friend is looking at a 2500HD crew cab 8.1 with allison and I crawled under and saw something weird. About 1/2 way back it appears that the drive shaft is rubbing on the frame member?

Could this be from heavy loading or what? I can imagine when it did rub or does rub it makes a heck of a noise. Just test driving it no noises?

The price is $24,600 with 40k miles on it? Canadian truck?????? Any one with insite on dash switching?

The truck may have had the new honkin shaft installed after it was delivered and they may not have cut the bearing mount back enough.

I heard a story about someone high centering their truck and scoring their driveshaft on a rock. The next time it was torqued hard, the shaft ripped right where it was scored.

I didn't see it happen, but it sounds plausible. No idea how much a new shaft costs, but I'd be leary of a scored shaft.

Is the original carrier bearing still in place? If not, I doubt it rubbed on the crossmember.
