Hi,
I am new to this forum. I will be buying a new 2500 HD in October. I am going to get the Sierra SLT. My question is which rear end should I get? The 3.73 or 4.10( I think I got that right ). I have a 28' Tahoe trailer that weighs in at 9k. Will probably be trading it in for a smaller toy hauler. Thanks in advance for your inputs.

Diesel or gasser?

The Diesel has no rear end option. It will be 3.73. I've towed double what you intend to and the rear end was a non issue. If they did offer a 4.10, mileage would suffer. BTW, I have 33" tires on mine.

If you get a gasser, that's up to you. Empty mileage will be much better with a 3.73. It depends on where you intend to travel.

I was not aware that a 4:10 was available?

With 8.1L 3.73 or 4.10 are available. My in-laws have 8.1L/Allison 2500HD and pull 30' Hitchiker 5th wheel with a slide out. They have 3.73s and no complaints. I'm not sure there'd be much MPG penalty with the 4.10s though . . . they only get 13 MPG with their 2WD truck and 3.73s (when not towing).
With 6.0L 4.10 only.

The 4.10 is standard on the standard HD. That is to say the 6.0 gasser. That is how it meets the 22k GCWR

Thanks for the inputs. I plan on getting the Duramax. I guess I was reading the options wrong.
