Anyone know the mechanical differences between the 2500 and 3500 SRW? ie; springs and tire size I know, but what about brake size, frame strength, running gear, steering linkages, etc.

Anyone know where there is a accurate pic of the 05' GMC 3500 front end?

I would be really surprised if they changed anything other than tires and an extra leaf in back. The GVW difference is only 700lbs. Ford and Dodge do it the same way, very little difference in the trucks period.

I have a 2005 2500hd on order now. When I was at the dealer, he spec'ed out both a 3500 and a 2500hd and printed them out so I have the comparison. The info is subject to change blah blah blah, but I can tell you the differences I have here on paper.
3500 rear spring-3 stage spring
2500hd rear spring-2 stage multi leaf

3500-alum wheels not available

3500-same as 2500hd: 4 wheel disc with abs

3500 rear axle capacity-9200 pounds(dually)
2500hd rear axle capacity-6900 pounds

Pretty much, the 2500hd will do anything you need. If you tow fifth wheels a lot, get the 3500 as that is the only way you can get the dually.

Here's what I've gathered:

3500SRW has steel wheels and 265 tire. No options.

All 3500's have no body side moulding.

All 3500's same main leaf pack which is 1 more than 2500 or same as what I run.

3500 DRW has 2 "slapper" overload leaves where SRW has 1.

I didn't drive a SRW, but imagine it rides quite nicely. I think the extra spring rate helps in most situations...

Meaning there is no chrome door moulding strip John?

Or is this just on 3500 DRW's?

As for price....Anyone compare apples to apples between 2500HD and 3500 SRW? When I was looking for mine, the HD Power Package was cheaper on the 3500 SRW, and thus gave me a lower MSRP a few different ways.
