View Full Version : Exhaust headers?

Is the exhaust headers on the 6.2 engine interchangeable with any gas-engine headers?

Since I don't think it's worth the money to install turbo on my old truck, I can perhaps get a few extra hp from a pair of extractor headers. That is if it's possible to fit some cheap gas ones on the 6.2D.

Is anything else similar between the diesel and gas engines? E.g intake manifold, valve covers or just about anything at all?

Maybe all my questions are stupid but I've never owned an American car with gas engine, so I don't have anything to compare with.

If there are any parts that can interchange between diesels and gassers, I don't know what they are. Maybe the fuel pump pushrod. Every so often you see a set of headers from a humvee on eBay, but they may not fit between the heads and framerails. I don't really think you'll see a noticeable difference with headers, anyway.

Stray Cat did a test of one set of headers on a non turbo 6.2 engine. Results are in the 6.2 diesel section of this forum.
