According to a report in today's headlines at autoweek.com, the H1 will receive the Duramax/Allison as part of a heavy-duty package to be released next year. Not sure how to create a link, but go to autoweek.com and type H1 in the search. Look for an article titled "Hummer to offer heavy-duty package in effort to out-tough Jeep."

Good to see a diesel back in the H1. Now if GM would get it act together and put one back in the Suburban!!

Well, about time. A DMax/Alli in an H1 sounds great, now if I can just come up with 120 large to buy one. I wonder how much the Cummins powered Jeep is gonna cost?

There will be a diesel offering in the jeep liberty about this time next year :D . My fiance works at chrysler :( , and thats what she's waiting for.

Edit: Forgot to add, its NOT going to be a cummins. It will be a Detroit diesel made in Italy. 2.5L, V6, direct injection diesel.

I just read in the car mags that this new Jeep is gonna go head to head with the Hummer H2 and that it will have the Cummins diesel. This is not a Liberty or wrangler, it's a big honker I think it is called the Jeep Rescue. It was even on Motor Trend TV, and if it's on TV it must be true... ;)

From what I understand the Rescue is only a concept right now. The Liberty is a done deal.

Edit: My fiance, and long time best friend both work for Chrysler, so I trust what they hear/see within the confines of the corporation.

The Jeep Rescue will Be made. It will have the 305 Cummins Diesel and will run on a dodge chassis. That seems to be some of the hold up, Jeep wants to stay Jeep without bumming rides of other Chrysler products. Rescue will be Equiped with Navigation and Front and rear wench's.

Real Hummers have diesels - in fact I find it real hard to understand why anyone runs a gas engine in a 2500 series or larger truck. Most people I talk to who have the gas burners complain about the economy and usually admit they wish they would have went the diesel route after the fact.
