Hi guys. After scanning the various forums for info about converting a non-cruise control truck to having cruise using the factory stalk for a '96 and having no luck, I'm pleased to announce that simply plugging in the cruise stalk to my steering column gave me cruise. Simple mod...only took maybe 1/2 hour, and works REALLY well on the highway. The only drawback: the price. With my buddy's employee discount, the dealership's price was still over $200.
Anyway, not sure if any of you are missing cruise, but on the '94, '95, and now '96, buying the factory stalk works.
