I am towing a 9400 pound 5th wheel dry weight. I am using ams oil synthetic(15 40) and a bypass system. My oil temps before the switch to synthetic were in the 190 range(not towing)210 towing. After the switch I saw a jump to 210(not towing)and towing 225. Are these acceptable numbers? I am using a quadzilla tripple guage.Thanks.

Murray. you didn't say what engine etc. you are using. My temps vary with ambient temps, speed, and weight being pulled. I have seen 230*-240* while towing hard in the heat of summer. Also solo on the big road I see a 10*-20* temp rise from 65mph to 75mph. In the summer at reasonable highway speeds, not towing it can run about the same as coolant temps,180*-190*. As I mentioned above the faster I run the warmer it gets. In winter when its cold, I see less than 150* on the highway. I'm using Shell Rotella 15/40 (non synthetic). Hope this helps. ;)
