My 2003 2500HD D/A was just totaled by a drunk driver...and I've begun looking at my replacement options. Now that they offer a SRW 3500 I will probably go with that to handle my 5er weight better. I know a DRW has even more weight capacity but I just can't get myself to go there yet.

But it appears that they now offer either a 3.73 or 4.1 gear ratio. I visit a dealer tomorrow and check it out. Obviously the 4.1 will pull stronger but I was very happy with the 3.73 on my 2003.

I'd welcome any input on this issue.

Sorry to hear of your loss....

The 4.10 is an option for the 8.1L and 6.0L gassers in the 2500HD - 3500's.
If you want an OEM axle option other than 3.73 with the Duramax, you'll have to move up to the 4500+.

I can't imagine a need for a lower gear unless you supersize the tires.

4.10 gear ratio will give you backup speed about 5mph at 2500RPM, I have a freind that got rid of his 2002 chev just for that reason, when your plowing you do a lot of back'n up.
