Before towing my 28RK Sprinter home from Tennessee, I weighed the camper and truck and it weighed 15020 pounds. I didn't weigh just the truck. The trip was 457 miles and I averaged 13.8 mpg! I was shocked.

Jim, I got about 13 mpg heading to Florida with my 95 6.5 suburban, 3:73's etc. MPH plays a big part in Diesel mpg's, running 70+mph will drop fuel mpg's. As will head winds. I weighed my suburban with my ole 30' Jayco and was right about 14,000lbs. Running through the Rockies dropped me to 10mpg or less. Best way to check fuel mpg is to fill up at the same station, same pump, both times to get an accurate account of mpg's, however thats not always possible unless you are running close to home. smile.gif

Got the truck weighed today empty after taking a load to the dump. Weighed 6040, so That means my camper weighs in at around 9000. According to a dealer sales brochure I've had since 96 listing the max fifth wheel weight, my setup is good for 7500#, putting me ~ 1500# over weight.

A gutted cat is when the ceramic (sp?) material inside the catlyic converter has been removed to increase exhaust flow. I helps a LOT!
