Can I safely charge it with my 12 volt battery charger on the 2 amp / trickle charge setting?

Is it okay to charge break away battery with the charging system of the truck. std.105amp alternator?

Thats why I was asking about my 2 amp / trickel charger.

I wonder how often they need to be charged???

I've been told that a battery that sits for longer than 30 days tends to build a coating which tends to weaken it. By charging it back up that knocks the scaling off an allows the plates to contact the acid better and produce the correct voltage for a longer time. That's about all I know, so rule of thumb is probably put the charger on at least once a month to keep it full charged.
