What is the GCWR for 2500HD and the 3500 Dually?

If you are refering to a 2001+, the GCWR is 22,000#, if equipped with an Allison or ZF-6 (Duramax or 8.1L gasser). The 4L85E or 5 speed is less (6.0L gasser). Both the 2500HD and 3500 have the same GCWR's, all else being equal. I'm not certain, but I pretty sure the 8.1L with a 3.73 gear ratio is less than 22k, also. Only the 8.1L has an option for 3.73 or 4.10 gears. The 6.0L is 4.10 only. The only option for the Duramax is 3.73.

You can read more about the 2500HD/3500 weight ratings here (http://thedieselpage.com/duramax/2005MY.htm). smile.gif

Those published trailer / 5th Wheel weight ratings are always a little misleading (especially for a 5th Wheel / 2500HD combo).

By the time you get to the 16000 pound 5th Wheel trailer limit, the truck GVWR has most likely been exceeded by 1000 pound due to the 5th Wheel pin weight in the bed.

Its too bad that GM does not post "typical" capability for the average truck that they sell. In otherwords, a typical payload capability for a DMAX/Alli equipped 2500HD EC/SB, etc. The information is surely available.
