I am in the market for my first 5th wheel trailer, to be pulled primarily behind truck #2. Have been pulling an 18', 12K# dual axle, bumper hitch trailer with bobcat ramps. It weighs about 2,500#.

Looking for a deck over gooseneck trailer that will be easier to side load with fork lifts, and also double as a single car or bobcat hauler. Most of my loads are very compact, like steel, palletized widgets, or wood. I have been limited to about 8,000# (cargo weight) in the past, and would like to increase that to at least 12,000#.

Trailer empty weight is an issue - I put on lots of miles, and need something that leaves me room for cargo and capacity without over taxing my truck. Some of the trailers I've seen weigh over 7K# empty!!!

Your experiences and ideas are much appreciated. Used goosenecks for sale also strongly considered!

If you haven't already done so, hop on over to:
http://www.rv.net/forum/
They have a forum specifically for 5th Wheels. If you can cut thru some of the silliness, you can often find a lot of reviews related to various manufacturers.

This is another site that might be helpful:

Good Luck!
