Some member registrations experienced a problem, but as of 2:00 pm mountain time, it appears we have restored most or all of them.

If you have any trouble with logging-in or with forum operation in general, please let me know.

I get a message that says the topic I requested does not exist. That's puzzling becuase when I do a search for topics they all show up, but when I click on one to read the thread I get the meeasge that the "Topic you've selected does not exist."

Many files located on the TDP web server were mistakenly deleted at the ISP level a few days ago. This hit the forum pretty hard, affecting both member registrations and forum topic threads. It may take a while to work through these issues.

If your forum registration was affected, please send me an email message that contains your registered email address.

Some forum threads were also lost. In general, the lost threads were of a certain date older than 30 days. Most of the affected threads and member registrations were restored via a backup, but some were lost permanently due to the backup cycle at our ISP not being caught in time.

The forum will likely be toggled off again for a much shorter period of time as we move the entire web site to a new server. This process was begun before we discovered the true nature of the problem, but should help with overall system performance.

Thanks for your patience.

Hang in there, Jim! I and others know you are more frustrated with the forums' "down time" than we are. We trust you will do your best to keep things working as smoothly as possible.

Best Wishes,

You too, DuramaxDicko? I set the URL in Opera to refresh every 30 minutes and was constantly "hoping" for my daily fix.

Great job, Admin :D

Jim

We break the (your) marbles once in a while, but thanks .....

One thing is common when the site goes down, we miss it, like a lost friend .....

Thanks Jim, and the rest of the silent back ground people that make this page run, it aint easy deep down ,we know......

And thank you for taking the time to answer my E-mail's as you always have.....

The forum seems to be going slower than a crawl. Are others experiencing this same slow pace?

Our ISP reports that they lost their primary router sometime yesterday, substituted a backup, then swapped in a new box early this afternoon. This took a few hours to complete. During most of that time, the web site and the hundreds of other web sites hosted by this ISP were offline.

Sounds like your ISP doesn't have the same level of infrastructure that we demand for/from our trucks. I'd give them a lashing, one more chance and then move on if they can't meet expectations.

Speaking of forum operation, is there any way for each thread to have the number of times the thread has been updated, since last logging onto the BB, listed beside it?

Like this: "Forum Operation (3)" if there were three more posts since I last viewed it?

Seems like all of the other Dmax forums I frequent have this feature, and it really comes in handy.

UBB Classic V.6.5.0, which is what we're currently running, does not offer topic view stats. We will be upgrading to UBB Threads before long. Threads does offer topic view stats, and it will used here. I already have the license for Threads. The delay in installing it is due to a conversion utility not being quite ready for release.

UBB Threads reportedly offers better performance. UBB Classic needs to reconstruct a new displayed page every time it changes (like when a post is added to an existing thread). UBB Threads operates with a database system that is more efficient.

The performance improvement made possible by a new server and new UBB software should allow for more features to be enabled for everyone.

Is this the reason when doing a "search" for a subject it only goes back a couple of months? IF
so, what a shame. There was alot of good info
that was very helpful to me. Hopefully you can bring some of that back.
