Hi Dr. Lee,

Had a coolant leak that I fixed. It was located between the Timing cover and engine block so I had to remove everything in front of it. Put it all back together, leak is gone but now if under hard acceleration or if hauling a load up a hill, it seems a loud whine is heard. I swear I think its the turbo.
With my cab over camper on the K2500 up a hill the load increases, the whine starts up and then eventually the tranny goes to a lower gear and higer RPM. The whine acctually goes away until the load builds up again. I don't think its a mecanical rotating part as the noise doesn't go up and down with the rpm. I checked all connectons and the truck seems to run and perform fine. Just this new noise worrys me. Any clues?

If you disturbed the turbo piping during your recent leak-fixing chores, you may have a leak that you are now hearing. Check all the joints and connections in the compressed air path, including the airbox on the intake manifold.
