looking to replace motor, this 87 6.2with 155K has recent banks turbo, was told by a rebuilder that i should replace with a 6.5L, because at 50-60K he would almost gauranty that the pistons would be cracked in a rebuilt 6.2. what do you recommend? and where is a good place to buy a good rebuilt 6.5L at a reasonable price? what else do i have to consider in switching over to a 6.5L?

A good place to look for any engine, used or rebuild would be the diesel depot, a dieselpage advertiser and known for good quality.
How ever I did not hear this piston cracking thing on rebuilds before, maybe you need to talk to another rebuilder to start with.

Randy-
With all due respect, the 6.2L has earned a grand reputation for reliability, the 6.5L not so much. Later 6.2L blocks and early 6.5L blocks better. Best blocks 'enhanced' GEP Navistar 2001 up.
