I am building an 87 1 ton pulling truck and was going to put a duramax with a five speed in it. I have heard that the trans bell housing will bolt up, but I was wondering about the starter to flywheel location. What size flywheel and clutch will I need. I know that the starter gears are different from the 6.5 but with the project I attempting that is the least of my worries. I'm pretty sure everything will work I'm just concerned with the starter making contact with the starter ring in the right place. Any help or info is appreciated.

Thanks Wayne

Your best bet is to call LUK clutches. They have some pretty decent tech help. It might take a few days for them to get back with an answer. They might also need some info on the Duramax itself.
