Searching through the posts, I see quite a few questions regarding swaps of 6.5 engines in place of 6.2 or gasser engines.

Are there certain years of 6.5 that would be a better consideration than others? On the main site there was an article about the changes in 1997 and I know that the early models had a mechanical injection pump instead of the electronic one. Finally, are there certain "upgrades" that should be performed to an engine? Such as starting with an early engine for the mechanical pump but doing certain upgrades that came on later models?

In my opinion a 1992 or 1993 6.5LTD with the mechanical DB2 injection pump would be best for a tranplant. Retrofitting the dual thermostats requires some custom bracketry to clear the accelerator cable for the mechanical pump. If you will not be towing a heavy trailer long distances you could probably get by without the cooling upgrades.

Thanks for your opinion, Dr. Lee!

Going to start keeping my eye out for a donor truck.
