Is air conditioning and the 6.2 diesel compatible?

I have an 86' 6.2 diesel Blazer project I am planning. Certain of the air conditioning parts would come from a donar 305 gas engine Blazer. What issue/problems should I be aware of for this conversion.

Project Blazer uses - will be around town driving, along w/some hwy travel. Also, thinking of making this a higher fuel mileage truck.

Thanks for your advice.

Most 6.2L diesel trucks, including Blazers, were air conditioned. When the original buyer was popping over $3000 for the diesel option, he was probably in the mood to spend a little more to enjoy his truck.

You will need the diesel-specific brackets for the A/C compressor. Try to get the old giant axial compressor - it has the highest capacity for the best cooling. And go ahead and use R134a, it works great in my truck and many others of the same vintage.

Check with the Diesel Depot's partner, Avant Salvage, for the brackets and parts you may need.

Dr. Lee:

What is the common name for the large axial compressor? I have a brand new GM#1136476 which I think is a "H6"

Thanks .......

If I knew the name, I wouldn't have to use the description  ! ! !

The round radial ones are R series (I think) so H6 is fine with me until someone posts a better answer.

A6 (axial) or R4 (radial).
