Due to a lack of Qualified GM mechanics who know anything about my 94 6.5 where I live. I want to find a way to set my timing. Piston 8 broke and I was able to keep the timing gears, crank, and cam. So I reset the timing to pre rebuild. I now get a code 34 which IDs the "Injection Timing Stepper Motor Fault."

Any ideas are welcome

Try re-timing the injection pump. Code 34 can come in when the desired and actual timing numbers are out of sequence for a time at a certain rpm. Look for less than a 5* change in these numbers @ idle and 1500rpm's
Stock timing is -.25 to -.50 TDC degrees.
Unfortuneately this code can be a death code for the injection pump as well. Take a good look at the harness pluggs and wires going to the injection pump.

Charlie,

Are there other signs of a failing injector pump other than the code 34?

Thanks
