A lot of the name brand fuel filters are repackaged Stanadyne filters. I have yet to run across one that doesn't say Stanadyne on the bottom of it!!! Just my .02!

You may want to check out this link on a oil filter study. It covers a lot of filters and gives you good information to make a comparison. They don't recommend Fram filters, except for the Fram Tough Guard which doesn't get a high recommendation.

Howdy
IMHO... Use whatever says Stanodyne on it,possible that fram is made by Stan also. Stay away from filters in orange boxes. Just my opinion based on my experiences. ;)

Fram filters are made by Allied Signal, Inc. in China.

Like Bigg R said, I've never seen a fuel filter for these trucks that said anything but "Stanadyne" on the filter itself...no matter what was on the box or where I bought it. I think Stanadyne supplies all of the filters to the various aftermarket re-sellers.

If it says "Stanadyne" on the filter, it will be safe to use.

Thanks for the website, but i was asking about Fram's fuel filters. Sorry, nothing like a "brain fart" to screw up communication. I'm still not sure I'd trust a Fram fuel filter. While they are still a lot simplier than an oil filter, the quality control I've seen in some of the Fram oil filters I've opened up has left something to be desired, as noted by the oil filter link above.

I've bought the Fram diesel fuel filters for my truck and they are simply re-boxed Stanadyne filters - no different than what GM sells. The Stanadyne name is printed right on them.

They are not made by Fram, in fact I have not found one yet that is made by anyone other than Stanadyne that is OEM replacement for our 6.5 GM diesels.

Mudnutt, I hear you about the shipping. I bought a bunch of oil and fuel filters at once so the shipping was spread out. There is also no sales tax. smile.gif

Been using Fram filters since 1997 with no complaints. Recently my local auto guy was out of my favorite $14 fuel filter, so I went to NAPA and paid $25 for the exact same filter. Both are marked Stanadyne on the bottom.

every fram 6.5 fuel filter says Stanadyne right on it.
