I'm sorry that I didn't make it possible to view the results of the poll without voting. Here's a link that will allow you to see a PDF version of the results periodically. I'll update this as the voting progresses.

It would appear that most were over 100,000 miles, stock, and went with a better constructed rebuild.....very interesting. Good poll big Ron.

I wonder how many of those same people with cracked blocks also suffered from failed IP's as well.

Cheers

RJ,

Somehow I seem not to be authorised to look at the results?

Please help....

If you don't vote, you cannot see the "official" poll results. However, in the first post of this thread, I provided a link to a .pdf file of the results. All you should need is Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the file. If you need Acrobat Reader, you can get it here. (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html)

Finely designed poll, Ron.
I suppose GM keeps some relevant data. The 'mileage at demise' metric is pretty objective...it would be nice to have GMs info to increase the sample size.
As it stands , spells 'early fatigue death'!

ronniejoe, I have a question for you. I am not a mechanic. Could a regular guy off the street replace a mechanical fuel injection pump on a 6.5 Turbo? I have all of GM shop manuals for this pickup, but they are not detailed enough for me. Is there any information that would help a person do this who doesn't know anything? Thank you for any info you can give me.

That all depends upon how well you react to the unknown. If you can think things through, you'll probably be all right. Look through the members area of the website. There is some good information there on injections pumps. If you still don't see what you need, ask again.

Setting the injection timing might be sticky for you if you do not have the proper equipment and cannot improvise. It's never too early to learn, though.

I saw these image links turn up in the web stats, as being linked-to from another site. I don't even remember the context under which they were made available here on our server, but it might have something to do with Beta (FSD Cooler manufacturer). In any case, they are of 6.5 web cracks.....
