Yes, the Duramax has incorporated EGR since the 2002 model year (California models), and likely will in coming years for all 50-state compliant diesels. EGR helps control combustion temperatures. Lower combustion temperatures reduce the formation of oxides of nitrogen (a component of smog) in the exhaust.

i wonder if it s ordered for new jersey if it s required now... the egr is a real pia in the 6.0 ford pos. i ve been in and out of service for 7 weeks with the egr issues. but something tells me it s not the egr itself !

i see some cars on the dealer lots without california emmisions.
but ok to own/register in new jersey . wonder if the dmax has that option ??

All LLY and LBZ DMAX's have EGR. So if you are looking at an '05 or '06 DMAX, it has an EGR (independent of what state it is ordered in).

thanks for the help........

egr seems to be a sticky point with the ford 6.0. suffering with reoccuring problems.

I put up a Tech Tip: Duramax LLY Emissions on my site that covers this pretty well.
