By reading the hype from each of the "Big Three", I dunno who has the most power?

Duramax claims 300 horsepower at 3100 rpm and 520 lb.-ft. of torque at 1800 rpm
http://www.duramaxdiesel.com/

Ford claims Horsepower (SAE net@rpm) 325 at 3300 and 570 lb.-ft. of torque at 2000 rpm
http://www.fordvehicles.com/trucks/superduty/features/specs/

Dodge claims 325 horsepower at 2,900 RPM and 610 lb.-ft. of torque at 1600 rpm
http://www-5.dodge.com/vehsuite/VehicleCompare***p

But of course, when you compare one to the other, each manufacturer claims that their engine is more powerful.

How does a person accurately compare these?

The latest LBZ Duramax 6600 is rated at 360 hp & 650 lb-ft tq... So at least by the manufacturer's rating, GM is top dog.... :D

To tell you the truth - In 2001, I drove them all on the same road over a set distance and measured the time it took to go from point A to B. Hands down winner was the DMax. Recently (like last Sat.)I got the bug for a 6-speed and 650 lb ft of torque and traded my 02 3500 CC long bed in on an 06 with the same specs. The power of the new truck is equal to my Edge/Attitude enhanced 02 with 4" exhaust and K&N intake at level 4 - and a LOT quieter. Fords are good solid trucks but are falling behind with the 6-liter. Dodge, I'm not sure what standard they are using (American or European) but they too falls behind the new DMax. You owe it to yourself to take a test-drive in a new LBZ and Allison 6-speed equipped Chevy or GMC. Enjoy!

I'm still torn between the 06 and waiting for the 07 models myself. I've been tuning the 05 LLY and getting awesome results so I may just hold off a bit.

What kind of EGT's do you see on your tunes?

Depends on what tune, and what you are doing with it. Brandon posted some results from towing in the Duramax Performance Shop forum. At high RPM the EGT's will be much higher of course...
