2001 3/4 HD 164K miles

0 degrees today so I started my truck 1/2 before leaving work. Noticed truck would want to die out when applying more that 1/2 throttle. My check engine soon light came on the second time when I put the throttle down to test again but no warning fuel light. It basically will not run with boost. Can put the throttle down and hear the turbo.

Any ideas?

I forgot to say, I did not have the filter replaced from the recall. Did it about 4000 miles ago.

The engine was in "limp" mode. Might have been due to a P0093, which means the ECM detected more than a 20 MPa difference between commanded and actual fuel-rail pressure. A dirty fuel filter, excessive vacuum in the tank, gelling diesel, and so on could cause this.

Thanks, is there an easy way to reset this if I pull it in a garage to warm today or add deicer?

The easiest way to reset codes is with any one of the available aftermarket programmers or Tech II scan tool. However, the code (and service engine light) should clear after a prescribed number of ignition cycles - and the condition no longer exists.

Try a few start/off cycles.... smile.gif

This is the reason I got on the board today, mine started doing the same thing, add anti-gel and limped to around for about a 90 mile trip and it never did correct its self, did cycle the key also. Iam getting my programmer out to try and clear codes and see if that helps, will reply if it works.

Two codes showed up P0087 and P1093. It is going into the shop on Monday.

P0087 - One of three (or all) conditions exist: 1- Actual fuel-rail pressure is less than 0.0 MPa at 0-400 rpm. 2- Actual fuel-rail pressure is less than 22.5 MPa at 600-4,000 rpm. 3- Actual fuel pressure is less than 30 MPa over 4,000 rpm.

P1093 (are you sure it isn't P0193?) - Again, this is a fuel-rail pressure code. 193 indicates a fuel-rail pressure of more than 175 MPa.

You may have a fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator or sensor problem. But, always eliminate a fuel supply problem before changing other parts.
