Dr. Lee,
I have 82 6.2 that has a single crack between the intake and exhaust on the # 7 cylinder spot. Yukon 6.2 said there is a spot here in the site that offers possible repair ideas. I'm unable to find it. The machine shop says He wouldn't be comfortable doing a valve job because the crack would continue to spread. The engine has used some oil and antifreeze for years. I only pulled it down because antifreeze started leaking out by the ex manifold. Otherwise it ran really well. But the cheapest casting I've found so far is 425.00. Then gaskets valve job etc. makes it way to spendy for me. All the wrecking yard heads I find in pairs (so they will match) are usually worse then mine. Please help.

Thanks in advance, Steven

The information about sleeving the water passage between the valves is in the MEMBERS SECTION (http://www.thedieselpage.com/members/gmheads.htm) . In this general article is a link to the a brief description, and cutaway photo of the CRACK REPAIR (http://www.thedieselpage.com/members/head.htm) and source for liners and installation kit.

The Diesel Depot does this repair as a preventative measure on all their rebuilt engines, and have not reported any subsequent leaks.
