My truck occasionally has a strong vibration at idle. It has 32,000 miles on it and has led a pampered life - almost exclusively empty highway miles, only towed a light trailer a couple of times.

The dealer and I suspect the flywheel. It goes in for repair this week.

Any suggestions on what should be done? Is there an updated flywheel available?

At this point it seems that GM isn't going to upgrade the current dual mass flywheel so if you want something that will last you'll have to go with aftermarket. Currently South Bend Clutch and Crank it up diesel are the only two that have aftermarket solutions.

South Bend Clutch does not yet have the solid flywheel/single disc available.

The dealer replaced the flywheel & bolts per Bulletin 04-07-31-006A and Doc 1576796.

I currently have 32,000 miles. When the flywheel fails next time, does the 36,000 mile warranty apply or the 100,000 mile diesel engine warranty?

The 100K mile warrenty will apply to the flywheel next time it goes bad. South bend is working on a single disc unit and Crank it up sells the CPMac units which are available with the single disk.
