Those of you who have elected to get extended warranty coverage, what package did you choose, what mileage per year do you drive, and do you think it was worth having?

thanks,

I first bought one on my 86 Buick Regal T-Type, 6 years 65,000 miles and at 39500 miles (4500 miles past the standard warranty) the turbo charger started leaking oil bad. The Buick dealership said that they were not qualified to replace the turbo impeller bearing so they were wondering if it would be ok to replace the whole turbo unit...Duh! Anyways, $6500 later, and not a cent out of my pocket, it was running like new. Score one for the extended warranty. Then at 42,000 miles the pinion bearing went out, again replaced at no cost. Since then I have purchased an extended warranty on every new vehicle I have owned (see Sig) except for the Caprice which was 2 years old when purchased. I am just now going over the 36000 in my truck, the 2500 Sub is in the 25000 range. I travel alot and find that there is piece of mind with the xtnded warranty, especially when my wife travels alone. It's really a personal choice and I usually get the 6 years 100,000 miles.

I bought a extended warranty on my wifes Catera. It replaced a transmission and a few other things. Bought one on my Duramax that extended the warranty to 111K (36mo/75 k miles). I now have 112K and never needed it but it was a nice to know it was there. I bought the GM MajorGuard.

I purchased the GM MajorGuard extended warranty on my last 3 new GMC vehicles ; 1991 2500HD 4X4,ext.cab, 7.4L, --- 2002 2500HD 4X4 CC DMAX, ----2005 2500HD 4X4 CC DMAX ----
I've only had to use it once, it paid for a new replacement 4L80E transmission in my 1991 that came to $2000 on the shop invoice at no charge to me.
This is just an extended peace of mind for me, with all the new computerized electronics making it very much more difficult for me to work on myself.
