Upgraded fan rubbing-offroad

Last summer I put the Dmax fan upgrade on. I did not trim the shroud because it fit, a bit close on the passenger side though. It worked great. Recently I was offroad in 4-low with deep ruts and was in particularly deep, sideways when I hear a terrible grinding, scraping sound from up front. I popped it in neutral, didn't help, so I killed the engine.

Good news - the fan survived and I got home.
Moral - trim your shroud for healthy clearance.

Other than the expected variability between trucks, your passenger side motor mount could also be sagging a bit. This could be a normal result of lots and lots of miles. :)

I'll check the motor mounts. I trimmed the shroud a bit, but I have not gotten offroad enough to see if that really solved my problem.
