03 Duramax manifold leak

My Uncle has an 03 chevy duramax that i would like to buy. The only problem is that this truck has been to the dealer about 4 or 5 times because of a manifold leak that keeps coming back.

Is there any way my uncle can fix this for good before i buy it and it runs out of warranty?

New gaskets and check the mating surfaces for trueness. Might have a warped manifold (one or more ports on the manifold don't sit flat against the head). If so, it can be trued. Exhaust leaks haven't been a problem with these engines.
