Post any hard and fast rules you have learned over the years about the 6.5 here, and if the turnout is ok, then I'll 'sticky' it for reference.

I'll get the ball rolling...

Rule #1 - Get Gauges before getting a chip or reflash

Rule #2 - Limit boost to 13-14 lbs without an intercooler

Keep between the radiator & A/C condensor clean.

when it's over 90F don't let the wife drive truck with water trailer hooked up.

Always,Always!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Change the filter and clean the housing before going to the dealer.

Never, Never try to race that brand new PowerSmoke or Cummins that pulls up beside you at a red light. Ive tried countless amount of times and it just doesnt work!!

Fuel filters are cheap insurance. Change them regularly!

Don't forget to duck when walking under a truck on the hoist with a low hanging ball mount...:eek:

Don't call Superflow and ask them what could be locked up on the dyno until you verify that you are not in 4x4. :rolleyes:

If you ever have a radiator leak don't have it fixed just go to Auto Parts store and buy a lifetime warrantee replacement radiator I have had mine fixed 2 times and it begins to leak shortly after, I now have a new one and it is bigger and has been great. Also there is a grease Zert by the bell housing on the manual tranny that requires grease this cost me clutch and boy was it hard to put in. Make sure you grease.:)

Maintain the truck.
Change out the glow plugs before they rot and fall apart, twice in 120k miles
change the fuel filter before it plugs
change the oil press sw before it fails
change the balancer before the crank snaps
always use a quality additive at every tank

I have done all of these things and have been treated very well by my truck. I did lose a vac pump pulley that left me on the side of the road last year, don't laugh but I removed the broken pulley and wrapped electrical tape around all the pulleys like the belt would run and drove it another 30 miles till I seen my brother who was on his way to get me with the trailer.

Always ensure that your thermal actuator has locked the front diff in,
before you drive into a 4wd required situation.

Watch your thumb when removing #6 glow plug. That inside fender well is sharp....five stiches later......with isn't bad but....had a heck of a time with the rest with this huge bandage on.

If it won't start on a 90 degree day after endless cranking and cranking and shooting WD40 up the intake after changing the fuel shutoff solonoid(on my old 6.2), CHECK THE GLOW PLUGS. $600 later, truck ran great.

Learn after the first overheating experience to let out of it and let the Dodge win...

If you want to tinker buy an old car to mess with not your daily driver.

If the temps drop below 30*F in winter where you live plug the truck in! Get a timer and have it turn on 3-4hours before you leave for work. You will have heat sooner and the truck will thank you. RT

When estimating the time and cost of a project, mutliply both by 3 to get the actual costs...

Don't assume battery post terminals (ESPECIALLY SIDE POST BATTERIES) are good even though they look clean. Pull the rubber back away from side post cable and clean them good. Take apart the passenger side positive cable and clean between them.

Hmmm...say what? Don't race a PowerSmoke...you won't win. But if you want to have a fighting chance then try adding water and 50% Alcohol to make it faster.....It will pull you in your seat...feels like your riding a roller coaster

Or do the Dr Lee battery post up grade,Nuts and Bolts
