Now here's a dumb question

I sometimes like to listen to my CD's while working near the truck

Soon as I open the door, the stupid door chime interferes with the music :-(

Since the chime comes out of the same speakers, it's not so easy to pull the chime itself

I can't find a door-closed switch on the door jamb like there used to be, which I could jam shut

When I switch ignition to "run" position, the chime shuts up. Wonderful. :-)

Did this for an hour or so today with no immediately apparent ill effects.

Is there anything that would suffer damage, or cause exessive battery drain in the run position with the engine off??

Use a tool of choice (screwdriver, stick, etc...NOT a finger!) and trip the door latch. The "switch" is built into it. Just don't forget to pull the door handle and make sure it opens, before trying to close the door. If you do forget, it'll remind you what you forgot to do.

Well, I'll be ..., thanks for the tip, works like a charm.

Now that you mention, it makes sense the switch could be in there, tho I'd have never thought of it myself, having been conditioned to look elsewhere.

It is actually real easy to trip, too. My pocketknife has a perfectly suitable phillips tip surely intended for that very purpose!!

You lose a lot of volume that way

When you own an expensive stereo like that, you want to get all the sound out of it that you can!! :D
