May seem like a very elementary question but I have seen a number of you post that your diesels have a "glow plug override". What exactly does that mean? My 95 Chev is stock and I haven't to this point done anything to it to modify it in any way. Thanks for any help.
Regards

A Glow Plug Override is a manual switch to extend glow plug "ON" time beyond the time programmed into the controller, or in the case of 1994 and newer 6.5's, the PCM.

Ronnie Joe did an article about one way to do an over ride. Extended glow time can be done in several ways. The issue is that the newer glow plugs allow for long glow times with either burning out or swelling that would happen too the old 9-G glow plugs. The problem is that the new plugs are not as hot and need longer glow to start well.
