View Full Version : Comfortable Seating in Ford F-350
Recently purchased a 12000lbs fifth wheel. Likely loaded with quads will weigh upto 16500lbs. My 2500HD Duramax is no longer the right truck for this lage load. I have 4 kids so I require a six passenger truck. I purchased a Ford F-350 Lariat in 2004 and found the front seat very uncomfortable especially compared with a GM. I sold the truck after 3 weeks and went back to GM. Now I am faced with going back to Ford as they have the only SRW Diesel that is rated for up to 17000lbs fifth wheel towing. Does anyone know if you can get the comfortable Kng Ranch bucket or other bucket style with a seat in the middle? The 40/20/40 buckets that are standard on the Lariat do not even compare to GM. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Nothing says you have to stick with stock. Years ago, I replaced the bench seat in my Toyota with seats I pulled out of a Subaru at the junkyard. Much more comfortable! And the colors pretty much matched. Later on I swapped those out for a couple Recaros.
Another option is to go to an auto upholsterer and work with them to add foam to the existing seats to contour them better.
Obviously, you're going to spend some coin to go these routes, but as someone with some chronic back pain I'd say it is a worthwhile investment.
Unless you want the Ford and thats OK too, weigh the trailer to be sure it is going to overload the truck on the scales. If the weight is why your switching may as well be sure, it's possible you could be over what you thought and then be over weight on the Ford as well.
