What does HMD stand for in an HMD 4L80-E trans?

Topic pretty much sez it all. At first I was thinking Hydra-Matic but there is no D in that.....

Well Hydramatic is one word and the only thing that I found when searching was: hydraulic motor-driven transmission.

"Hydra" and "Matic" have been used both together as one word and as two words hyphenated. GM's current website uses the hyphenated version but no mention of HMD that I could find.

At one time I think H-M was an actual division of GM but now it falls under the GM Powertrain umbrella. Any tranny techs here that have some old memorabilia around?
