My DIC shows "SERVICE 4x4" and none of my 4X4 selector switch LEDs are lit. Could it be the encoder motor or switch. I'm ready to pull switch and re-flow the solder on them and check the TCCM if I know where it was.
Is the TCCM mounted on side of transmission? I guess it is time to get a manual for this thing.

TIA

FJ40INTOW,

The 03's had a specific problem with the encoder motor.. I had mine replaced under warranty for the problem you describe .. On other model years I've read the selector switch is also a common problem..

See this thread for more info on the 03 encoder issue ...

Thanks...
As I expected the "Service 4x4" is not on my DIC and my 2WD led is lit this morning. Last night I could not get any leds to light after several power cycles. As luck would have it my truck is out of warranty. Anybody have idea what a encoder motor costs?

I'm not sure of the encoder motor cost, but you might want to pull the 4WD fuse until you get it fixed.. Mine started out with an occasional Service 4WD message in the DIC that would go away. However, eventually the lights on the selector switch started acting strange and would not respond. The 4WD light would come on but the 4WD drive was not engaged and pressing the button wouldn
